Re: hood support
They all seem to work about the same. Best thing about them is you can work on the engine with both hoods up at the same time. You will love the difference if you don't already have them.

Re: hood support
I probably jumped the gun and purchased 22270, had it shipped from Brattons to Canada . I can't seem to find a picture of one installed.

Re: hood support
Well my fellow Canadian, don't worry! That hood support will work just fine.
If it wasn't a good one, Bratton's wouldn't sell it. . Jeff

Re: hood support
I have the 22250 type hood support on my coupe. There is a strange magnetic attraction between the hood support and my bald head. Any time I am within three feet of my car with hood up I have this urge to run over to the car and cram my head against the end of the hood support. The 22270 may not have this feature.

I also have the 22250, the stainles one with the two sets of arms, and i love it. Both my original and my Bergs radiators have the tabs, but i never felt i could trust them.

Re: hood support
Hi Guys,
I used a plastic covered coat hanger and bent a few S type hooks to keep the hood up. I have 2 in the shop and 2 under the seat

Re: hood support
Thanks Floats, I'm gonna try that, now all I have to do is find the plastic covered coat hangers.

Re: hood support
I am easily confused. I would like to see a picture of that coat hanger support on the car and holding the hood. I am not sure where you hang it. I am not to bright sometimes.

Re: hood support
I think what he shows at the top goes under the handle on the outside and the bottom hock goes over the support rod.

Re: hood support
Yep, Curtis you are correct.
Open the hood and hook the small hook through the handle, open the hood some more and hook the larger hook over the radiator support rod. Eazy peasy. I’ll post a pic if you like. Chris |

Re: hood support
Small hook outside,
Large hook inside, Lower the hood and violá. If you cant find the old fashioned plastic covered coat hanger, use a piece of wire covered with shrink sleeving. Chris Cape Town Last edited by Floats; 03-25-2018 at 02:51 PM. |
