Default Starter motor Ground path

I’m ready to reinstall my starter motor after refreshing Pistons, rings & bearings & painting much of my 8BA engine. In reading an old thread I’m a bit concerned whether I interfered w the ground path thru the engine for the starter. Never thought about it when painting engine, bell housing & starter mounting plate. It’s all back together & planning engine reinstall tomorrow. At this late date should I do anything to insure ground path like an extra ground strap on the starter mount bolts?

Originally the reinforcement plate on the pan was masked and as such remained free of paint.
Also, I am hopeful you'd installed the little bracket at the end of the starter body that is bolted to the oil pan / block rail?
That's all that's required of the starter.
Extra ground straps are not necessary if the authentic straps are correct as well as correctly installed.
Whenever I see all sorts of extra ground straps I can't help but think "why doesn't this guy just fix what's wrong instead of adding bandages"?

As usual, Kube is correct with all he says above.....and I'm five minutes LATE! But as he says, make sure that a ring around the hole where the starter mounts is shiny, bare-metal clean.....NO PAINT! Same with the mount surface on the starter, too! DD

Correct grounding was installed 6yrs ago when during original build including grounding features & New harness. Never had an issue w starter or any electrical issues. My concern is all the new engine & component PCs. The starter isn’t installed yet & I can wire wheel face mount portion of starter mounting plate. Thinking paint got in the Oil pan, bell housing, & starter mounting plate mounting holes. I thinking that is the ground path.

All of the pan bolts and the transmission bolts ARE definitely ground paths. Not taking anything away from what Mike said, but you can never have TOO many grounds. DD

You can run a thread chaser into all of the bolt holes that might have paint in them. It is similar to a tap but does not cut new threads, it just cleans them.
