Default .100” Over Piston Rings

Hastings no longer makes the .100 over piston rings for the 8BA so I could use some help sourcing a set. I know that it “might be possible” to use .125 rings and file the gaps but I think that is out of my skill set, even if it was possible.

I could never figger out why a person would bore ther block out to .100", when .125" offers so many options. Think first!!!!!

Kurt, I checked with Mac yesterday, that’s when I found out that Hastings had discontinued them, he was not able to suggest an alternative.

Ronnie, I am doing research, this thread is a part of it. I don’t want to be banging my head against a brick wall if somebody more experienced than me has the answer. I learn from mistakes, I prefer it to be someone else’s mistakes however.

Egge definitely offers .100 over replacement pistons if anyone can get rings its certainly Egge to go along with the pistons so they should be able to help you out.

I just thought you'd have a better selection of better rings. The old design didn't last long, maybe 30/75 K miles. Just trying to keep up with Kubota. My latest engine has 70 year ol pistons and rings. tho

I just built an engine .100 over. I got Grant rings from Red's Headers. Those are cast iron all the way. I broke one and Grant didn't want to help me. I called up Egge and they were very helpful and got me what I needed. If I could do it over, I would use Egge for the entire ring set.
