Default Mystery Head

I’ve acquired a V8 head but have to clue as to what its origin is. There’s no markings other than the cylinder location stamped 2-5-7-8 near each spark plug hole. There’s no markings is also one other threaded hole in the head for each cylinder. Anyone have any idea what this head might be from.

Possibly a marine or specialized power plant head?

My curiosity has me wondering what the other threaded hole next to each spark plug hole is for.

Maybe it's for some type of compression release valve.

The "combustion chamber" configuration looks pre-Ricardo; nothing contemporary, that's for sure.

I think it's around a 27 Cadillac what i found looks the same. Hole beside spark plugs maybe compression release or add little gas to cylinder maybe.
