It's alive!!!!!
For those of you who have been helping and all those who enjoy seeing something come back to life, the following is shared. Sunday afternoon she was driven for the first time since October 1968. Tires are on the way, 3 wheels left to paint and a visor will be in place before presenting to my Daddy on his birthday in April. Those rear wheels are from my friend's 29 coupe.
Will post more pics soon, especially of the birthday coming out party. At 87 I think I will have pulled off a big surprise. |

The patina is just great. Don't be in too big of a hurry to cover it up!

Re: It's alive!!!!!
My father past away at 42, he loved the old trucks. He was a mechanic and drove nothing but trucks from the 40's and 50's. He would be your fathers age today if he was still here. I envy you for being able to do this for your father. He will love it I'm sure.

Is it a car you bought or was it in the family for all those years?

Re: It's alive!!!!!
Very thoughtful present!
I'm curious. What is the come-a-long doing? Front end wobble?? |

Re: It's alive!!!!!
Good question. Come-a-long is putting stress on bumper brackets, which at some point were pushed in, I assume due to a slight collision. They've moved some, not quite enough. I relaxed some of the strain with a Mapp torch. Getting closer.

Re: It's alive!!!!!
LIke others I love your Truck. It looks just like mine. it was red & I stripped off most of the paint. Now it is rust & red lol I have taken My truck all a part, now starting to put it back together. In it's past someone had replaced the top with plywood & fiberglass. Also many of the bolts & nuts had been replaced with high quality aircraft bolts & nuts. I have had My P.U. since the early 70's. If only Our Cars Could talk

Re: It's alive!!!!!
That is a really nice pic. That is really special. Perhaps a rust/patinaed front bumper, or use a weathered piece of barn wood/plank.
Other plans for it? Weathered bed mini stock rack, Whiskey barrels in the back, barrels with old farm hand tools (shovels, hay forks, etc.), other? When done more pics including engine and interior please. |
