Loss of a friend in Connecticut
Many of you in southern Connecticut likely knew Fred Mascioli (CT AV8 here on the Fordbarn). Sadly, he passed away this past Sunday after a sudden illness.
Fred was nearly deaf, but that didn't stop him from chatting up everybody at every car event. He made friends quickly and wanted to know everything about everyone's cars. He was passionate about these cars, loved sharing what he knew, and loved learning more. Fred drove a '31 Coupe that he built with his son as a period correct hot rod; flathead V8, mechanical brakes with 1935 hubs...it was not chopped or channeled. So often there is a rivalry between the "stock guys" and the "hot rod guys" but Fred enjoyed and respected everybody. I cannot even begin to put into words how much I will miss him, especially at the Beardsley Cider Mill, which we both agreed was our favorite show each season. I searched through all my car show pictures and couldn't find one of Fred. I had forgotten that he was the self-appointed photographer of our little group, so he was always behind the camera. I snapped a quick shot of this one from a framed photo at his memorial. I apologize that it is not better resolution. Please keep his family in your prayers. Ken

Re: Loss of a friend in Connecticut
I'm sorry you lost your friend. I lost a few in 2015. It's tough. Mr. Mascioli sounds like a guy you could ride the river with.

Yes, one of the first to welcome me back to fordbarn, not sure we met in person but he sure looks familiar. When you live in the same small state and attend the same meets, I find that happens a lot. Hopefully his son has great memories of him through the hobby...

Re: Loss of a friend in Connecticut
As I get older it seems that so many good friends are crossing the river, everyone of them leaves a big hole in the heart, some of the passing we understand because of accident or illness, but those who pass suddenly are really a shock. For many years I have been saying "if we never forget they will always be with us" so be it with Fred

Re: Loss of a friend in Connecticut
It's very hard to lose best buddies. I lost mine when he was 58. Changed all my plans for retirement. Thought we'd be kicking tires into our fading years. My sincere condolences for your loss.
