Valero Commercial
Has anyone seen this ad? It makes a reference to the Model A as an example of American ingenuity that "keeps us moving." While the sentiment is very nice, the car they show isn't a Model A.
I'll admit I don't know the other makes nearly as well, but I can't identify this thing. Anyone recognize it? http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7oDo/valero-k...america-moving

Re: Valero Commercial
Well, the commercial also shows a moon walk, but we all know that that was actually filmed in a secret studio :-)
(The commercial refers to a "1969" moon landing, but the footage was color, so it was probably from one of the later Apollo missions.) Doug

Re: Valero Commercial
I'm not sure of the make either, but I think some of the older Buicks had a 3 bar bumper.

Re: Valero Commercial
Good eye... After comparing it to images on-line, I believe it is a Buick. I, too, was thinking Packard for a while, but the tombstone grill didn't look quite right... similar, but not quite.
As much as I love my Model A, I really think the Model T fits their message better. Either way, it couldn't have been all that hard to find accurate footage.

Here is a quote I have posted before. It is from a sales brochure. IMHO it says all you need to know about advertizing.

After looking closer I agree that it's a Buick.

Re: Valero Commercial
Close - but no banana. It definitelay is NOT a Buick, nor is it a Packard. The year of manufacture most likely is either a '27 or '28, but exactly what make, I do not know. However, as I have had both a 28 Packard and a '28 Buick, I am intimately familiar with both. I too at first thought it might be a Buick. I had to look at the video about four times to firmly be convinced that it was not a Buick - close but no banana. Before the 'Crash' of late '29, there were something in the order of two hundred individual marques. That is a LOT of 'close, but no banana' look-a-like automobiles. Ofcourse it did not help that the video was an extremely brief 'blur' with poor imiaging. But my $$$$ says, while very close at a quick glance, it is not a Buick.
Post Script - - The add kept 'bugging' me, so I had to look at it again, another 5 times. And now I am much less sure about rejecting the car as a '28 Buick. If there were only 10 or 15 choices, it sure would be easy to say it is a Buick. But with two hundred other similiar cars to add to the mix, it makes 'a sure thing' difficult. So I'll just say," Yeah, it COULD be a Buick." - But I'll keep my betting money in the nickle and dime catagory. Last edited by DougVieyra; 08-28-2013 at 10:53 PM. Re: Valero Commercial
Not a Packard ; the body looks late '20's GM with that oval rear window like a Pontiac etc. The 'shell looks Buick to me.
