1928 AA flat bed truck with rare sign
There was a nice 28 AA flat bed truck at the Long Beach Model T swap meet, today that had a Warford transmission.
It also had a cool 'Warford Equipped' sign that I have never seen before. I was told that this truck at one time belonged to a Hollywood movie studio. |

Re: 1928 AA flat bed truck with rare sign
I have no idea what a Warford transmission is, how does it differ from what was standard in the AA? Dad moved tons of oil field equipment right after WWII with the AA, but never talked specifics.
Thanks. |

Re: 1928 AA flat bed truck with rare sign
Google is a wonderful thing. I did a quick search and found out everything I needed regarding the Warford transmission.
I'm sure my great grandfather had one in one of his AA'S, but not in another. Dad told me they hired a navy machinist after the war who helped install an inverted transmission behind the stock one to have a road gear running empty. Dad said prior to that they carried 2 sizes of tires for the drive axle, a larger set for running empty. He said it was a chore to swap tires after driving all day, then loading up and heading home. |
