Re: Bratton's 2011 cataloge
It's still cheaper to buy parts for my eighty year-old Model A than it is for my wife's 2000 New Beetle....

Yes, that is a great point to remember, especially given the relatively low production volume of repro Model A parts compared to a relatively modern car.

Re: Bratton's 2011 cataloge
I recieved my Bratton's today..I am VERY GLAD to see BRATTON'S , BERT'S and SNYDER'S are still around the way things are going. I try to spread $$$ it around . I still have "NOT" Recieved my MAFCA Maz. yet... And Monday is my Birthday. Hope it comes gift wrapped.... Think i'll put together a order to Bratton's to cover atleast the cost of the cataloge..Something i really need is on pg.159 , a picture of a 1931 A-400 with the top down... And here i thought it was a """400-A""" all these years.. My Lord..L.O.L.

In Canada, they're referred to as 400-eh?

Re: Bratton's 2011 cataloge
I find I get equally as good prices and service at Brattons, Mikes & Snyders (not necessarily in that order). These 3 seem to be a cut above the others. I've not done much with Berts, but what I have done has been on par with the other 3 mentioned.

Re: Bratton's 2011 cataloge
Each year in April I review Bratton's new catalog so as to adjust the prices I charge a customer for rebuilding rear ends, transmissions, and bell housings. I have a parts list of the 100% replaceable items I keep in stock as kits for rebuilds. The price to the customer is Bratton's list price plus shipping.
This year the only prices that went up for me are for gaskets. All the other parts remained the same, except for two items that had a reduction in price. What seems to be an outrageous price increase is the cost of a gallon of paint thinner for cleaning parts. In the early 1970's when a gallon of gas cost about 40 cents a gallon a gallon of paint thinner cost 20 cents. Today with oil prices governing the market, a gallon of gas is selling for a mere $4 a gallon, while a gallon of paint thinner at Home Depot sells for around $12 a gallon. Tom Endy |

Re: Bratton's 2011 cataloge
Just about put me out of rebulding my engine. Can't afford the machine work let alone parts. I guess my car will just set until better times that the good old boys in Washington keep saying are coming.
