Default 1941 to 1948 ford heater blower motor replacement

Working on a 3 door hot water heater for 1941 to 48.

To be more specific its a 1941 truck heater but i think the blower motors are the same.

All 3 i have are the 4 wire reversible type. All 3 are dead shorts

Is there a replacement available? So far i have had no luck finding even a universal 2 wire that will fit.

Carpenter is out of stock

Shorted?? Measure with a digital ohmmeter. Two of the wires go to the motor field and two go to the the Armature. The ohm reading should be low, also measure to the metal motor outer cover which should be very high.

Yeah, shorted as in dead short. The insulation is rotted and the bearings are rough. Overall junk

Thanks, i will look into that. Most of whats available are for later 50s cars and the motor body is too long or the shaft is 5/16.

There is a made.in china permanent magnet motor on ebay thats reversible, 12v and looks to be the right size except for the 5/16 shaft.

There is a company out in California that repairs those motors. Eurtron Electric Company Inc. phone # (800) 423-4789. I had them fix the heater motor on my '48 Ford last year they did an excellent job, but very pricey. It works like new.

I have one of the replacement motors from C&G, i think it lists for $80 or so. its one direction, you can choose which direction it spins by which wire you hook up to red and black. I'd sell it to you shipped for the $80, i found an original motor and got it repaired so it spins both directions.

SkidMarks, there is an Early Ford V8 guy out of the Ventura, CA club who specializes in heaters only. I don't know if he's still doing them, but he's really good, great reputation and I've seen my uncle with 2 of them he restored and they were NICE!! His name is Larry Kaplan. Let me know if you need his number, I can track him down for you.

Same here. I got one from Kyle and it fit my 41 heater fine. I had to shorten the shaft, no biggie.

Hey, I've got a used motor, supposedly for, a 40 heater. It is yours for the shipping. Condition unknown but it is supposed to work. Give me some measurements and I'll see if it will work for you. I'll even hook it up to a 6V battery to see of it runs. I'll never use it.

That would be wonderful,
What measurements do you need? I have a 1945 1/2 ton pickup.

I’ve measured the motor,

See image.

From tip of shaft to back of housing 4 5/16”
From sides of housing 2 15/16”
Shaft diameter 1/4”
Shaft protruding 3/4”
Bolts outside to outside 2 1/2”

Will, were you unable to get your motor to run with the new wires?
