How does that work? The sealed beam lense is fluted and the original lense is fluted. Seems the light beam would be, for the lack of a better word, confused??

Those are the 8" to 7" adapters for standard sealed beams. Makes the car look bug-eyed.

Another method places the SB behind the original lens, and as you say the double diffraction "confuses" the beam.

True - the Bratton people confirm the same thing. Not a great choice.
