6 Volt Tach connection and built in coil

My 41 convert has a stock distributor with built in coil. Stock V8 in all respects

I recently came across a Sun 6 Volt Tach and EB-1A Transmitter for 6 Volt 8 Cyl operation. I'm not wedded to it, but it would be nice to run it.

The wiring schematics I have seen show connection to the distributor side of the coil. Can this be achieved with a built in coil or do I need to run a separate coil?

Apols if this has been covered before - I did a search but came up empty handed.

I would think you could get a tach signal off the condensor connection on coil.....

Open up the box and have a look inside first...they use a 1.25v battery that are obsolete and if the relay is in bad shape you need a replacement driver box.
If you are going to use the box it usually needs new capacitors and a bit tinkering with the powersupply.

On your original coil there is a slotted head screw that connects the condenser centre terminal to the coil. Your tach sensor wire goes there. Not to be confused with the ignition feed wire terminal nut which is close by. You would be very lucky if an old tach like that one would operate correctly if at all. If your sender box is beyond repair, I make a direct replacement for 6 volts positive ground. They are $175. My board can probably be made to fit into the original box. I have done this with Sun transmitter boxes, but not SW.

Tubman are you building the complete tach system unit (tach and sending unit)? thought I read your post earlier and that's what I thought you said, maybe not. Al
