Default Roadster Lower Stanchion Posts Bolt Replace

1930 Roadster the lower stanchion post bolt 3/8 NF threads stripped and will not hold the wing nut tight. The outer threads are stripped, the threads further back are Ok. Is it possible to double nut the remaining threads and remove the bolt?

I am hoping I can get it out and replace it with a new bolt that I remove the head from. If I can get the replacement into the stanchion I would use some thread locker to keep it there.

I am trying to do this so I do not have to repaint the stanchion or replace the whole stanchion and paint it.

Thoughts? Thanks guys.

I don't think thread lock will be strong enough to remove the bolt.
Is it possible to spot-weld the nut in 1 or 2 places or is there not enough space for that?

I don’t remember about the brass ones; many early 30 had brass sub stanchion. But I think they are basically the same configuration
The stud is threaded into the base and peened on the backside. You may note a “X” where it’s peened. You’ll have to relieve the peening and the stud should come out. And a fine threaded bolt from hardware should make a replacement with a little sawing and sizing

I will check it and see if I can see peening. I think it is smooth. Thanks for the input.

I may have to try welding a nut on the bolt.
