Default 1⅜" Wrench

Silly question. Is there anywhere on a Model A that uses a 1⅜" wrench besides the Ratchet Nut on the crankshaft pully. trying to determine if I need a 1⅜" open end wrench. Thanks

It's best to purchase the special socket from either Brattons or Snyders. And to the best of my knowledge no it's only the crankshaft pulley nut that requires that size. Dave

Trivia: Ive only run on to ONE car, that had a L/H threaded crank pulley bolt! FORGOT what it was. Anyone know about them?
TIP: I ran onto a Surplus Store, here in town, that buys BARRELS of "reject", Major Brands of tools, they grind off the BRAND Name, Cad plate & sell them VERY REASONABLE!--Ask around about them, in your area!

You can get a socket onto the crankshaft pulley bolt then run a socket extension through the crank handle hole and attach your ratchet drive handle in front of the radiator.....

Years ago I purchased a short socket from Snap On tools to fit the crankshaft nut. It was expensive but most sockets that size are too long to fit that space. Ed

Thank you all for your input. My project is I bent a 1⅜" combination wrench similar to the picture and I could not decide if I should cut off the open end or not. If there is no use for the open end then I may decide to cut it off.

This wrench works great to 'nudge' the engine while checking your timingI have a tool box in the front and can not use a crank.

If you take a little time, even a regular Propane Torch will heat a wrench enough to BEND it.

No heat, just cut then end off to get it out the way.

I have a "Craftsman" socket that I bought on eBay that fits nicely. If you can find one with a 1/2" drive, it will come closer to fitting in the tight space than most of these sockets that are 3/4" drive.

My socket is an S & K #40144, 1/2 drive and 1 7/8 tall, it goes over the crank ratchet easily.
