Fender Bead Wire
Greetings: I'm just starting to repair my rear fenders for my 1930 Tudor. Both original fenders are torn in one place each and the wire broken. How do I fix these tears and what is the diameter of the bead wire. I hope to have the Tudor on the road next May.Thanks in advance. Grant

Re: Fender Bead Wire
#9 Galvanized fence wire is perfect. Available at most hardware or farm stores. I've been using it for year for beaded fenders. Nice because it's galvanized.

Re: Fender Bead Wire
The ire size for proper fender replacement is #11'. That's a little smaller than the #9 found at most farm or lumber supply houses...My recommendations are to peel back the wrap around (Bead) 12 to 18inches on both sides of the broken bead area....that way you get away from the "stressed bead area" and any rusted area...Then lightly roll the bead back into place... I have done several this way with great success....YES it a very big job and very time consuming.BUT it will give you a very strong fender...
