Painting problem update problem solved !
I posted a question a few days ago about a painting problem the top-coat was wrinkling !
I had used Krylon primer in spray cans several times on the Model A before with good results ( not all of us have real good painting equipment ) but this time on the Model A Hood the finish coat (Arabian Sand ) Wrinkled up and separated like you had put paint remover on it ...I was talking to a friend about this and he told me that many of the spray paints have a "RE-COAT WINDOW " he stated that he had the same problem and it was because he waited to long to apply the topcoat or finish coat ...he said that the Krylon paint he had used specified a 4 hour re-coat window after that any other paint applied may cause wrinkling you could apply another coat after that but you have to wait until the paint already applied was FULLY CURED and this takes AT LEAST 4 days at 70 degree temperatures ...Well I stripped the hood to bare metal AGAIN , Sanded it smooth ,applied Krylon primer 4 coats sanding lightly in between with 600 grit ...Then the Arabian sand top coat and it came out really nice ! no wrinkles ! no problems ! So I just thought I would let you guys know how this came out and THANK YOU ! FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS B0B in Michigan |

Re: Painting problem update problem solved !
The krylon paint must have been reformulated. I have never had that type of reaction with krylon. Thanks for the update.

Yes thank you so very much for the update. Often advise is given and no response as to if it worked or what was done?

What did you apply the Arabian Sand with? I'm assuming some type of spray gun and wondering why not use it to apply primer.
