Are all 30-31 front fenders the same?
I have 2 fenders that I've been doing the bodywork on and just realized the mounting flange that mates with the splash aprons are different. One is slim with no mounting holes drilled and the other has wider mounting flange with holes drilled for mounting to apron. I'm putting them on a 31 Tudor and if they are the same then I will just drill holes to mount the different one. I wasn't sure if maybe one was an original and the other reproduction.

That sounds like a 1930 fender that someone removed the short apron from.

They look pretty symmetrical to me. I guess that's why I never noticed. I think you are right bill. So hopefully that is the only difference. I always thought 30-31 front fenders were the same. I guess not.

When I was researching front fenders at the archives a few years ago, if I recall correctly, there were 7 different 1928/29 fenders (per side) and like 5 different ones for the 1930-31 models including the service replacement. This did not include welled fenders. What I also know is there were aftermarket fenders made back in the day for replacements. My personal opinion is many of the "NOS" fenders that we see today are not really Ford-manufactured fenders. |

That crease was the remnant of the early 30 "eyebrow fender.

Understand that the "eyebrow" fender was not used on all bodystyles and was an 'also' fender designed for a certain application.

Re: Are all 30-31 front fenders the same?
I have two varieties of short aprons in stock - one pair are bolted so work with a '31 style fender, and the other pair were originally spot welded like the ones on my Fordor.
