Default steering gear plug

Does anyone know the thread size of a '32-'48 steering gear filler plug (B-3538)? None of the "normal" parts suppliers seem to have them.

It's a 1/4" pipe plug. Snyder's has them http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/search?q=3538

I stand corrected, this information is incorrect.

Not sure where you will find a 3/4"-20 bolt. I do have some steering box fill plugs, if you can't find anything to fit. PM me.

It is neither a 1/4" pipe plug, an A-3538-A or a 3/4" x 20 bolt thread.
A (B-3538) plug as listed is a 3/4"-20 tapered pipe thread.
Most likely a special purpose thread.

I don't see a A-3538-A listed in any of the Ford parts books, where did you find this?
I find 353055-S 1/4"-18 pipe plug which looks like what is in my Model A.

As (34pkup) indicated my '49-'53 Merc. parts book lists B-3538 as having 3/4"-20 thread and 3/4" inch length.

That same part number is still listed for the 64 to 72 Ford trucks. If it's the same part they are listed for 48 - 60 F100 as well. Think I would try and locate a used original.
