Default Another paint question

Looks like I will be doing some painting soon. I will be using a base coat/clear coat with hardner. My question is this: If I need to put this car in service asap how would slush and salt affect the new paint?

Default Depends

Very hard question to answer and not sure there is any definitive answer. So many variables go into the "lastabilty" of an paint job. 1. Starts with the metal/primer prep and application. Next, how many coats of clear? Next when finished is the vehicle kept in a garage or sit outside all the time. How much sun does the vehicle get daily? how much time between painting and putting the car into service? "MOST" paint jobs fail from underneath....meaning problems with the metal/plastic or the primer. The next most common is sun damage. I know of a base clear paint job on a truck that looks "as new" that's 10 years old (but its kept inside when not driven and kept clean and waxed), I just saw a hood painted two years ago that had to be repainted last month because of clear coat failure due to sun!

Would suggest epoxy primer to start.

If you are planning on doing it yourself I hope you have proper safety equipment.
Do a search on "Urethane poisoning" for more info.
