I always jack up the tranny with a floor jack as I lift the engine. Once it's high enough for the front of the engine to clear the crossmember they usually slip apart quite easily.

I'd make sure the two bottom bolts for the rear engine mounts are out and the top two loosened. This will give you room to tilt the trans up so the oil pan will clear the cross member up front.

All 4 rear mount bolts would need to be completely removed to pull the engine.

Double check that all your bell housing bolts are out. It's easy to miss one.

That's for sure!
About 5 years ago I was having some trouble and knew it should come with what pressure I applied. I double checked, and sure enough I had missed a bolt.
