Ward's Riversides were great tires. I bought some in the early 70's for something like $12 each.. I do not know when Montgomery Wards stopped making them, but the company stopped mail order sometime in the 80's.

I've got two NOS Riverside blackwalls stored in one of my model A parts buildings.

Seems like I remember Firestone making 'em at one time , they were contracted out by different tire mfg .

Wards Riverside tires were well made, rode nicely, and lasted a long time. I still have a few in storage. Back around 1986 or so a guy I know heard they were being discontinued so he ordered a set of 5 and then "forgot" to pick them up. As discontinued stock, the local store could not send them back so marked them down 50%. In walks the guy that ordered them in the first place, for a great deal. I always keep an eye out for these or the equally good Sears Allstate tires at swap meets.

My friend bought a set in 1982. When I tried to buy some in 1983 Wards didn't sell them anymore.

Thanks...I have one that is real good shape for a spare, just wondered if they were still being made.
