Chrome is not a good reflector for head lights. They should be silvered. Thats the way they were done originally and they worked best. Ask any plating shop. Iceman

Well, if aware that silver is best but hoping for some sort of adequate fix from paint...
there is VERY little to lose in experimenting. The results will likely be inadequate, but for almost no time and money would seem worth a shot.
You have the suggestion to try that tape...what would that involve, 5 minutes to experiment?
And light meter tests on the HAMB showed flt white spray as the best cheap booster for small, feeble taillights...again, testing would be very little money and time.
Just don't blow any serious money that could go for silver later!

Actually, the question at hand is the 'will you be driving it' question. If the answer is yes, then safety becomes a factor. Silver paint will NOT work for safe driving headlights. The silver tape may, but I don't think it is a 5 minute task either to cover enough area to be safe. Safety should be first, then budget. Well done, silvered headlights can be out run by a model A, so how fast are you gonna go with the make-shift version? Re-pops would probably be best for temporary budget issues. Just something to keep in mind. No attitudes in this post. Tom

Just an FYI Urvia uses aluminum and it is the same stuff and process as used in telescopes.

What about household alumium foil for a temporary fix? glue it on with waterbased glue and it will wash off if/when you can ever get it resilvered. (Edit, wait i think that has been suggested)
