Wheels
My Model A showed up Monday, offloading from the big truck went well and it almost made it up the hill to my home. When they told me it was low on gas they were not kidding Luck was with me as a friend towed me the 1/2 mile to my driveway. During my short drive it felt funny and he told me that a rear wheel was wobbling pretty bad. It I'm sure has been covered before but what do you do. I have truded motorcycle wheels but the A has welded spokes, do I need a new wheel or can the spokes be heated and quenched to move the rim in place. Is there any written information to allow a brave person to do this on their own. Thanks

Re: Wheels
There are a number of posts on this web site that gives ideas on how to tune the wheels.
Also you can buy used ones on EBay, Bert's in Denver or buy new ones from a number of vendors.

Re: Wheels
I use my slide hammer with a flat 1+" hook. You can pull them every way almost. Stretched spokes can be shrunk. Look them over after done because there are other things that can cause your wheels to wobble. Also before you start make sure they are not cracked or the lug holes not distorted.

Re: Wheels
Charlie that is my plan, was up to see Don Roberts the other day to buy some small stuff and we talked about that. He suggested finding another wheel I agree but how do you tell if the one your buying is any better than what you have without a fixture of some sort to spin it. This weekend is going to be 60 or so I'll pull the spare and see how it runs on the front spindle.

Re: Wheels
A quick check is to slowly roll the wheel on flat concrete it its out of round or twisted you will see it right away .

Re: Wheels
After you get the original problem rectified watch the flea markets. I bought a set of perfectly straight 21 inch set of five at Hershey last year. All sand blasted and primed for $ 250 dollars. Less that the price of one repro at Snyders of Macs. Also the local flea markets have them but you have to be very careful. Wayne

Re: Wheels
I assume your "why" is related to why I am not a fan of the reproduction wheels. First they are expensive and you should be able to find and restore original wheels for less cost. Second I have been told, and I an definitely not an expert here, that a knowledgeable person (judge?) can tell that they are not original. My car is definitely not a show car but I do try to keep it as original as possible when I have a choice. I hope someone posts how the reproductions can be told from the originals.

Re: Wheels
The look of the spoke ends is different on the repro wheels.
