Living in the south with a Model A

Folks south of the Mason-Dixon line get back to us on July 22nd. We may have our hot days in the summer - but at least we get a break occasionally.

We have breaks also. most days are 95 degrees but some days are only 90 degrees.

Here in Minnesota we have good sledding 10 months of the year, with two that are marginal !

Here in Maryland it got to the 60's yesterday, so I took both As out yesterday to run errands. It was funny, as I went to Safeway to do some shopping and some guy said to me, "Did you have a black car out earlier (my town sedan)?" I replied that I had, so I made my mark yesterday.

We have had little snow,but that doesn't keep the roads folks from salting everything. It was good to get the cars out for some exercise.

Also in Maryland, about 1+1/2 hours from mhsprecher & it was 74.. Two weeks ago we had our one & only snow so far this year.. 1+1/2 inches, And they closed every thing !! ??..

It rained a bit before daylight this morning . I got to enjoy the sound of rain on the roof for a short time. Its now a balmy 62 degrees, acording to the thermometer on my north deck. The sun peeks out every now and then. It'll probably warm to around 70 degrees before the day is through. We've still got more freezing temps before spring really sets in. A couple of weeks ago it was 12 degrees or a little less and we had to keep the water running to keep the pipes from freezing. We seldom get snow here . We once got snow here as late as early april. Still, there are plenty days that I could drive the model As if I wanted to.

Oh you are so right, but if you folks must move south, go all the way to Florida, and take I-95, not I-81.

Funny thread, until I got home from plowing last week only to have my wife show me three houses for sale in North Carolina! Saturday she was looking at the "Help Wanted" ads in the same area...

+17 degrees and snow coming down in southern Mass. Had 31" snow on the ground last week. New storm has added 12" today with another 10" to go. Had the barn roof scraped off Saturday and will need to do it again, can't take a chance with 3 Model A's inside. Sidewalk shoveled but snow pile goes higher than my 6 ft. stockade fence. Oh JOY !

Going to be in the mid-80's this week. Grass is growing. Model A's out and about every day!
Now, in the summer it's a different story. One feels the urge to move to the north coast.

I got a little sunburn, this morning, in a heated pool, during my Water Aerobics class.

By mid june here, it will be too hot and steamy to do much of anything outside except in the mornings. Spring and fall are the best, Summer is the worst .

While away, some "PHANTOM" has been mowing my front lawn, doing the dumpsters & left a huge bag of Hot Rod magazines. Guess he was AFRAID to go in the back where Buster T. resides! The Dog looks like a BLACK/WHITE Dolphin, as he "swims" in the 10" grass!
A bit of rain, more expected?? Worse drought in 100 or so years, that's tough, when we're known as the Food Basket of the Nation. We have the largest variety of crops of any area in the world!!

It's in the sixties here for the last couple of day. I was born and raised right here in eastern NC, and really do love my state. We do have some oppressively hot and humid summers, but that is to be expected in the South. I like to see at least one big snow in the winter and don't mind the cold days, as that means no bugs and no snakes! Even in the winter, we have a fair number of mild days.

I have a good friend who escapes CT winters to Hardeeville SC. It is 69 degrees there today and the home prices their are very reasonable, so maybe . . .

Dammit! Where's that global warming we're suppose to be getting? I slipped on the ice going to my woodshed and almost through my back out. And how come my firewood seems to be depleting faster than other years.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR! I have already shoveled this entire walkway and driveway once today. Waiting for to to stop before going out to do it again!
