Re: Southwind & Zenith
The one I have installed in my 1940 Ford is positive ground and the heater works like a charm. Afordman31

Re: Southwind & Zenith
MikeK good information I believe this heater is new old stock and looks like it has never been run....which doesn't mean its not the igniter. I will pull it and see.

Re: Southwind & Zenith
Update: I had vacuum leak at intake manifold, car developed an exhaust leak in the spring which required a new gasket after the fix I wondered if that could have been cause of heater not coming on. So turned it on and I got ignition for first time level of gas dropped, vacuum line heated up and after a minute or so the fan kicked on but made a noise......heater had emptied temp fuel tank sucked air and shut down by it self. Today I completely removed heater to oil the fan motor.. after disassemble found there was no opening on top of fan to oil so removed fan motor from heater and placed in vice blades up, removed set screw and blades....small drop oil down shaft and turned motor with fingers.....then chucked fan shaft into a hand drill and used drill to spin fan motor at high speed. Hooked fan back up to 6 volts and it ran normal, I was surprised at how quit it is. I was using a glass jar as a fuel tank which had to go now, that has been removed and disposed of. New idea for fuel source, found on ebay a Holley side mounted float bowl for a four barrel carburetor $2.25 will fabricate a plate to cover open side but can easily plumb this to gas line and drill and mount fuel pick-up as South wind designed.. no head pressure no fuel leaks, will keep you posted.

Re: Southwind & Zenith
Paul been taking pictures all along, its a slow process going from dumb as a stump to an expert in South Wind Heaters but I am nearly there. Have removed everything from car at this point and the next time it goes in, it will be there forever.
