Re: Let's see the before and after pictures!
Here are two pictures of our '31 40B. The first is just after it was rolled out of a 38 year hibernation in a heated basement garage in Yonkers, NY. The second is after "cleanup" in 1998 including new tires and top, wheel and stripe repaint, some replating, and a engine overhaul. The paint it still wears was applied in 1951. Gar Williams

Re: Let's see the before and after pictures!
Forgive me as I am just a 25 year old. Heres what I started with in Aug of 2007
Little progress in early 2008 Very famous car I grew up reading about. Me in Traditional Rod N Kulture drag racing my fellow banger brethren Model A Dave at Dragfest 2010. Someday when I grow up and am responsible enough I will restore my coupe to original condition but for now I live my youth with a Gow-Job.

Re: Let's see the before and after pictures!
Brent when I win the lottery I am going to ship all my projects to you !!! . I have just realised I can never ever live long enough to do them .In England we have a saying the Good Lord gives you "Three score years and ten" so I have had mine so on bonus time and 7 more projects to do !!! . But looking on the bright side I might live to 110 but I think my prostate has other ideas.

Re: Let's see the before and after pictures!
Date coded 1977 and still had the knobbies when I started driving it around. The owner who had purchased it and drove it home in 1966 at some point bought new tires. When I bought the car in 2007 they all still held air great. One developed a leak in the inner tube so I have the spare which was a goodyear diamond on it at the moment. They are pretty cracked but have held up great under all the driving my car like a race car I have done . Still waiting for them to throw a tread someday.-Weeks

The start of restoration below. The finish below. Glad to be of service. The easiest way to post is to click the picture icon while writing a post and insert only the direct link you have copied from photobucket pictures.-Weeks

Re: Let's see the before and after pictures!
Makes m ewonder about the definition of starting with a car. How much of it do you need to have to say you actually started with a car? Some of you started with a frame and a dream..... great inspiration.

Re: Let's see the before and after pictures!
My 29 Closed Cab Pickup in 1969. Progress is very slow, I've spent most of the years since then playing bluegrass banjo and just driving it instead of restoring it. I'm hoping to get a bunch done on it this next summer.

No 'after' pics yet. May leave as-is for awhile and get some driving under my belt.

I had the same situation with the bad vibes. I used Les Andrews advice in his manual. Flywheel Housing Variation Measurement page 2-22 and Flywheel Wobble Test page 2-23. The housing, in my case, required .020 shims and the wobble indicated .015 which was corrected with a disc sander. |
