I saw the current Record Holder last month, it is based in Pennsylvania, I think the Record is just under 160MPH. He is running a B block. Bob

That's all I need. ANOTHER 'project'!

Will,
No issues at all. It's supposedly "easier" on the eyes, to view the puddle, especially
with the Hydrogen gas. I've wanted to learn the proses for about 15 years and never
got the chance.

My mentor built an engine this year for LSR car, Model A, perty-slick-part, should
be running by now.

Thanks,Dudley

Bob:
I thought that the Model 'A' block record was some what lower - do you know???. Does that class cover the Model A and the B block???

Jim:Thanks for the link. I had lost his old one and had not seen his new one. He comes by the shop from time to time, I need to corner him there one of these days. Thanks!

Dudley: Keep me posted on MPH, records, etc. Bonneville is next week, I just found out this afternoon, that my friend in Utah just bought that LSR rolling chassis that we had been talking about. It is so low that you can turn the car up-side-down on the tires, and the body will still not hit the ground.

LMAO Vince!

I will try to get a picture or two someday.

I will be happy to work on it, happy to watch it, but apparantly you have to have testicles to drive it!!!!!

Besides, If I laid that far down in the car to not stick out over the body, I would not be able to see over my belly.

Will,

LSR"A", 101.9 at El Mirage. That's on 2 cylinders not firing on the top end. The MSD
crank trigger was screwing up.

Hey Dudley, If it had an MSD crank trigger, I am surprised that it would be considered a stock class, I better be getting a set of rules here pretty quick. That is closer to the speed I remember hearing about. My experience with the MSD c/t was that they were often having a problem with the wiring loosing continuity where it went thru the mounting bracket.

We dropped out of the Daytona race in July '75, while leading, in a DiGard car with Donnie Allison, when one of those units went south on us! If I remember correctly we
were only 15-20 laps in, and had a 600-700 yard lead on the boys.

Dudley:
That race was won by Benny Parsons. I have thought about some, and I think it was the Daytona 500 that we fell out of, we finished the 400 in 9th.

Vince:
Go easy on this fellow, he clearly has not met you. In addition, I would add that I have also tried that softer MIG wire. It seemed to 'lay down' easier and was easier to gring, but I was still left with very brittle metal just adjacent to the weld. For some reason, I just find that the MIG welder is much easier and faster to use, but no matter how I have tried, I still get cracking if I try to bend the area adjacent to the weld. If you are not going to 'work' the metal or use matal shaping equipment after welding the MIG should be fine, but It just seems to be willing to crack over a period of time for some reason.

The grinding is what gives the Bondo something to cling to. Bob

That seems to be your area of expertise.

Not everyone is all that interested in using bondo!

This is one example the type of project that I am interested in pursuing by use of gas welding aluminum. The use of any bondo or filler of any type would be hard to disguise.

The body is lightly scuffed aluminum. The flames are polished. There is no filler material. NO MIG.

Having taught different forms of welding for 30 years , , hmmm.

I just realize my own stuff stinks and realize there are many ways to do a single job. That is the major difference between you and me ford.
