Default Model A Car Games

I just returned home from the 49th Annual Wisconsin Rapids Model A Ford Reunion Weekend. My thanks go out to the four Wisconsin clubs that help make this an outstanding event year after year. As always Sunday consists of the car games which includes a Slow Race, Bulls Eye, Center Bumper, Blind Drive, Trailer Push, Bean Bag Toss, and the Dry Martini. I would like to hear from you all and find out what other Car Games you may play at your Model A events.

One of my favorites is The Waitress, a timed event: The timer starts; The driver drives over a bumpy course, like an open field, around a safety cone at a certain distance, and back to the starting point. Meanwhile, the passenger has to hold a tray out the window with a cup of water on it and not spill any of the water. When the car stops at the end of the run, the waitress (passenger) has to get out and is given a saltine cracker to chew and swallow, and then must whistle. When he or she whistles, the timer stops. Best time wins.

Thanks for the nice comments on our reunion event in Wisconsin Rapids. We hope that our 50th next year will be even bigger, better, but just a little bit cooler. Temperatures were in the low 90s and very humid. I know of one casualty of someone coming from Green Bay that drove with the spark rod all the way up. They overheated BAD!!!! Luckily, Templin's Antique Auto was onsite with all the parts and got him on the road again. This year we had almost 100 Model As and their families. We look forward to hosting again next year!!! Ken B.

Our club plays "A" games and one of the members made a teeter totter to pull up on and teeter your car on the large bridge timbers that are on a 6 inch pipe. Quickest time wins

Dangle a golf ball on a string from your front bumper. Set out some coffee cans in the yard and go golfing. Every time you get out to see how close you are, it's a stroke.

Firin' on Four Bean Bag Throw

We used an old engine block with pistons / crank / innards removed. Set the block about 25 feet away from the toss zone. The block should be set so that the cylinders are parallel to the line of throw.

Toss 5 bean bags - 5 points per cylinder. 25 points if you get one bag PER cylinder. It's firin' on all four! Maximum score 50.

Just make sure the bean bags will fit in the cylinder. Many 'corn hole' bags are too big to fit.

Thanks for the responses so far! I am going to have to look for that book on car games. I would also like to give the teeter totter a try.

For some reason somebody thought it would be a good idea to ban the use of car games that require a "timed" event. This is so nobody will be a reckless driver and end up hurting someone. But, I've never heard of anyone getting hurt during a car game, and they usually aren't dangerous, otherwise people wouldn't play them. Car games were my favorite part of the tours, and now it's just something I do because I've always done them. But to answer the question, the Teeter Totter was hands down my favorite car game.

How do you "dangle a golf ball on a string"? I can't get a string tied around a golf ball!
