Tool kit storage
I have acquired the missing tools that were missing from my car. All are cleaned up/painted. Now, which tools go in the tool bag besides the manual? I would think that the jack & jack crank, hand crank, grease gun, and tire pump lay in the open. Does all of this go under the seat cushion on a 31 coupe?

Re: Tool kit storage
Yessir or in the rumble or rear trunk but since you repainted everything nice and shiny I would wrap each one in a towel then tightly bundle them all together, or else they will get all scratched up from all the bouncing around they're gonna do.....

Re: Tool kit storage
The handbook went in the door pocket.
All the small items [ probably including grease gun] went in the bag ; its a tight fit. The big items just were placed under the seat ; the later V8s had storage in the trunk for tools, but not model A's. Nice looking original tool bag you have ; be aware that any tools stamped ''Ford USA'' will probably be early V8 issue [ wrenches& monkey wrench]. You might get away with it if your car is very late '31. |

Re: Tool kit storage
You might want to wrap paper towels around the grease gun, then put it in a seperate zip lock bag.

Re: Tool kit storage
I have the tools for each of my vehicles, A's, T's, EV8, and Jeep in a display box (most from Don Turley (now being made by Quigley 1930). At any kind of show I probably get more questions about the tools then the car, most people are amazed that people actually did most of their own maintenance with tools provided by the manufacturer through the 50's. The Jeep toolkit is huge, they were supposed to be pretty self-sufficient in the field.

Re: Tool kit storage
Don, How about this hand crank? This is the one that came with the car. I had it in another box of stuff. I will need to rough up and paint.

Re: Tool kit storage
Is that the correct jack handle and tire iron for an A?

Re: Tool kit storage
This may (or may not) be of interest to some. The floor pan under your front seat was titled a "Seat tool box bottom" by Ford's engineering department.

Re: Tool kit storage
Does everything go under the seat? Tire pump and jack? I like them to be seen, but I am kind of tired of all the stuff in my trunk rattling around.
