Re: 32 Dash Knob replacement
Was talking with Sheldon, He had a couple of ideas I will investigate this weekend PLUS I had one that I will check the feasibility of. Given all the activity for this post, I will keep you informed with what looks to be best via regular email, Keith!!!

Re: 32 Dash Knob replacement
I would suggest that before you start tearing into removing/destroying an original '32 dash knob that you carefully compare the "new" one to the original ones. They could not be farther off in looks, color, font size etc. The repro's can be spotted from 20 feet away. If that is OK than proceed. Remember that originals are pricey. Just a hint.

Thanks for your input. Actually my knobs are custom made to the exact reproductions as to color, font and language.........IT's the only way to get the 32 knobs for our car as their are NO reproductions otherwise. My original "Hand Gas" knob in still in tact and in place, my "Inst Light" knob is threaded as original but I have to replace my "Luftklappe" knob...which I have the replacement, just need to install it!!!! |

Sounds like you are in the last catagory! Keep up the good work, we all like interesting stories like these. This one has got to be considered for a "DavidG" award trophy. |

Re: 32 Dash Knob replacement
The "DavidG" award would be beyond unbelievable.......I strive to meet his level work, attention to detail and level of correctness.......I don't think I will make though!! Thanks for the vote of confidence as its an honor to have a 1932 Ford and his name being mentioned in that manor!!! BUT I am trying

Re: 32 Dash Knob replacement
Robert,
You already have my two cents worth on this subject, but whatever you do, please do not hand it over to someone else to attach it for you unless they are very familiar with how '32 choke and throttle shafts pass through their escutcheons on the instrument panel, which is unique to '32s and '33-'34 fours. |
