Spending Money
I have just been ordering parts for my 255 in 8ba engine I'm gonna install in my woodie to replace the 221. I have Mahle pistons, hasting rings ,both .040. and a set of 8ba best gaskets. Now I need .010 main bearings and .020 rod bearings for my recently turmed 4" crank. I keep searching for clevite in these sizes because it's a US brand I am familiar with. I come up with a site that has stuff like one out of eight. Where do we go these days to get good bearings, rod and main for this crank? Just looking for good quality , longevity stuff. Not racing on the salt flats, but not offshore junk.

Re: Spending Money
Speedway seem to have good gearings. Also Van Pelt and 3rd Generation.

Try Fred at [email protected].
He is a good source for NOS parts.

Re: Spending Money
Believe it or not, Rock Auto had Clevite bearings for 8BA's. May want to check.
Ronnie Roadster and others recommend King bearings for my build. Speedway does sell this brand, but make sure you ask specifically for Kings. I'm also sending you a PM. |

Re: Spending Money
I'm pretty sure the bearings I got from Red's Headers were King.

Re: Spending Money
What about Egge? They list multiple sizes for that engine. I'd call them.

Re: Spending Money
Bought everything but the valve train stuff from Red's Headers for my 8ba rebuild. All quality stuff and fair prices from a guy that knows what he is talking about and won't steer you towards something you don't need or won't work for your build. Bearings were King IIRC.

Re: Spending Money
Thanks ! That's just what I needed to know. I don't have any info on Mahle pistons. I think they are cast. Maybe I will look them up.

Re: Spending Money
I looked at my ebay order and found that I jumped the gun on the mahle pistons. The listing was for ford/mercury, 46-53. In the description I see they are for a 239... I cancelled. I will check through this list of suppliers you have all sent to get the parts I still need. Thanks!

Re: Spending Money
Phil I agree. Over the years I have purchased a lot of engine parts from them. Great parts. Great price. Great service.
Cheers Tony |
