Re: Oversized Brake Drums
Bite the bullet and have your drums relined by J&G. And, while your at it have the shoes relined with semi metallic composite and arched for each respective wheel. I had this done by these folks for my 37 LaSalle. This is not a garage shop. They know what they're doing. I can now drive at highway speeds and feel under control.

Re: Oversized Brake Drums
I just replaced all the brake lines on my 49 Ford. Two of the old lines had compression fittings.

Re: Oversized Brake Drums
Flathead Ted has the solution.
The small percentage of 1935 Ford owners interested in Points Judging will seek out original drums. It doesn’t make sense to pursue original drums for a driver. I can spend over $400 per drum to have them relined or buy a new made in USA 40-48 drums for $135.

Re: Oversized Brake Drums
We had remachined F100 drums on our 32 , it passed all the brake tests and got complied . I was never happy with the brakes as on a hard stop the pedal would go away some . Took a long time of investigating to find the drums were over machined past.060 and on hard braking they were growing . New drums and linings solved any issues.
Do not over machine your drums |

Re: Oversized Brake Drums
FWIW:
I just heard from Reddaway, they have been in business since 1890s. The modern woven lining that they sell; RNAW woven lining has Kevlar fibers and he states that it won’t accelerate drum wear. http://www.redcoproducts.com/wbl.htm
