Default '41 Ford VIN No. question

The VIN on my 1941 Coupe is: 18-6369218. Does anyone know if this is an early or later in the year model? I am having a radiator built for it and the mfr. wants to know. Apparently there is a minor difference in the metal piece that separates the 2 radiator halves.

According to Mac VanPelt's site, your car (-6,369,218) is kind'a right in the middle. '41 production began with 18-5,896,295 and ended with 18-6,769,035. DD

there is a mid year change to the area around the radiator due to the addition of a 6 cylinder engine, that maybe the reason for the question of early/late

Don't know where my 41 falls. I went with the single element radiator since it cost $1,000 and the dual core one was $2,000. Convinced me.

If your coupe has the extra stainless trim on the fenders and the mustache above the grill, it is a "late" production model.

Thanks, alan. mrtexas, I can't believe how much the split radiators cost. I thought about a single but decided to go with the split. If we don't spend a couple thousand a year on our Fords we ain't driving them much. (:
drolston mine does not.
Thank you for the responses.

Also look at the glass bugs(date codes) of your glass, all the glass on my coupe has date codes, this will get you closer to your manufacturing date.

The crossmember also changed for the G engine. The new crossmember affected the ride height a bit for the later 41 vehicles. This may have affected the pickups more than the cars though.

corvette8n, All of the glass on my Ford has been replaced (before I bought it) so I have no glass bugs. Thanks for the reply.
rotorwrench, my Coupe does not have that cross member so I guess that puts it in the middle of production. Thanks for the reply.

You serial number is 95,000 numbers older than mine, the bugs on my glass are March and April, also appendex D in the 41-48 Ford book says front fenders changed to 2 piece on 12/12/40 also vent window locks added.
Front vent window frames chrome plated on 3/24/41.

If you don't have the Early Ford V8 book it's well worth the money
Hope this gets you a little closer.

I fixed an error Yours was made 95,000 cars before mine was made.
