Re: Same Clutch noise problem after third assembly and a lot of archive searches
Hi all,
You are right. Flywheel is cast, ring gear is iron. I drilled threads between the wheel and ring always across feom each other. Will take some screws or grub screw and fix it with loctite. This should help a lot |

replace the pressure plate you ground off the weights. the weights provide centrifical force to apply pressure to the clutch disc

I just have taken the old one in, with the weights.
The weights were not the problem in the end. I thought they touch the bell housing, but they do not. See my picture :-) Had the same idea as you.. Will let you know the result..timely |

What you see on the picture is the flywheel with the complete weights. I got two flywheels... one with and one without weights. I choose the one with the weights, cause of the recommendations here on the board. |

I think what you meant was a CLUTCH with the weights on the clutch forks. In many cases you don't actually need the extra centrifugal weight to have enough clutch pressure on the disc (kind of depends on the clutch fork design, the springs installed in it and the torque your engine generates).
I just had RAM make me a custom 10.5" clutch with no external weights and a spring package designed for the HP/Torque levels of our flatheads. Will post some pictures when I get it in (just shipped today). Also have a special steel billet "tweener" flywheel - that weighs about 24 lbs . . . right between what my billet aluminum weighs (13 lbs) and a typical aftermarket steel one (usually about 33 lbs). We will see how well it works out . . . |

Hi bored and stroked.
Your ordered clutch package sounds awesome. If I would had this info a few days earlier I would have ordered the same... Now, it is a little too late... Please let me know how it worked out! |
