It might cost a few bucks more but you can buy the entire package at Snyders. Sometimes all the running around does not justify the small amount of money saved. Wayne

The spiral rollers were made for a specific purpose, and grease was a distant second. These are shock-absorbing roller bearings. When the wheel hit a pothole or other obstruction, instead of a high contact stress seen at the rollers, the spiral roller elongates (it is a spring) thus reducing the stress. Modern bearings are solid because it is just less expensive to make them that way. But with better roads, perhaps it is a wash. The shock absorbing roller bearing is another quality feature of Model A's.
