I put Coca Cola in a couple of dishes under my walnut tree.
No more rats or mice since.
Coca Cola won’t hurt dogs or cats since they can burp.

This sounds like it works fine if you like disposing of dead mice... I don't.
Put mothballs under and around and you'll never see the mice.
You will have to replace the mothballs periodically as they evaporate.

From Google:

"Mice are breeding machines. They have a gestating period of 19 to 21 days. A female mouse gets pregnant about 5 to 10 times each year and can give birth to a litter of 3 to 14 pups. On average, the litter size ranges from 6 to 8 pups."

So if I did my math correctly, using the average values, a single female mouse could give rise to 16,000 mice in a year.

Don’t use antifreeze, dogs and cats love it and it will kill them. If you live where it freezes put about 6” of water in the bucket and 2 or 3 cups of salt, this will stop it from freezing and it stops the mice from decomposing if their left in there for any length of time.

Ha, one would sure need a lot of salt in the water to stop it from freezing around here in the winter when the temperature can drop to 30 or 40° below zero, F.

Quote: "At least 15 percent of the ocean is covered by sea ice some part of the year. Ocean water freezes just like freshwater, but at lower temperatures. Fresh water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit but seawater freezes at about 28.4 degrees Fahrenheit , because of the salt in it."

Coldest day ever in Alberta minus 78 Fahrenheit on January 11, 1911.

Have to say the bucket trap works a treat. Been noticing a field mouse enjoying the leftovers from my wife's bird feeder out back. Afraid he might find his way into the house, I set one up. Took a couple days for him to "fall" for it. Trotted him across the road and dumped him in the copse where all the feral cats hang out. Doubt he'll be back. (Kitty, kitty.)
