Default Boxberg Klassik 2013

Well its that time of year again and we had to be back for "Boxberg-Klassik".
Still having troubles in April, the new U-joint and new driveshaftbearing are doing well. Engine runs strong so we started on friday towards Bad-Mergentheim. 160km easy cruising.

Nice come-together on Friday evening on the "Altstadt-Fest".

Start of the Rallye on Saturday morning (sadly somewhat wet arround.)

As No 1 car (Mercedes 170H rear-engine) did a "no show", we
had the oldest car arround and started first (with start-no 002)

In some situations it might be wise to have wipers...

Actually it was raining a lot so :

We chosed to have a flat tire.
As i might have been to fast with repairs,
our car decided to take some ignition probs (?)

As inside compartement everything was dry i changed
sparks as a first try. Sparks looked great, so probs
didnt go away.
Some miles later, as probs improved, i changed the coil.
Doing so, the car lost its only Bosch-part - and -
ja you guess - probs didnt go away...
Some miles later i got somewhat angry and changed the
distributor and cleaned the carb during one stop and
(i guess) one of both actions solved the prob.

Soon after that, rain stoped.

After about 200km we arrived in Abstatt near Heilbronn and
had a great evening event there.
Very relaxed people and a lot of fun.

Sunday brought perfect weather and a perfect rallye day.

Going (back) from Heilbronn to Boxberg was one of the best
Cruising days ever

(sorry - no Ford on that pic)

Back on Boxberg proving ground, they had some tasks for us.

On that skidpad, our Ford might have done better, but
the driver was way to fast

HI Cristoph, it sounds like you had a great time on your tour, with no major problems,The cars were meant to be driven and you are sure doing that! You will soon have your to the point wear it will be trouble free for many 1,000,s of miles with only the neccesary routine maintenance that is required. Many people drive there modern car & dont look under the hood from 1 year to the next &likely only change oil once a year,if that. Try that on an A & see how long it remains a dependable car.

Thank you for your nice comments.
For me it feels like a normal behavior to have a little tinkering while being on tour.
As long as we manage to come back home "on own wheels", everything is ok.

Its somewhat funny that our car was used for an official question on the tour
(lots of participants had to google the answer)

I know the feeling allready (as i drove there with real fast cars )
but for others a "Steilkurve" is a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

Will be back with info regarding "Bad-Homburg-Historic"
(to take place next sunday)
