Default Rear axle key orientation

I pulled the rear drums on the '29 coupe a few days ago, cleaned everything up but I forgot to check how the axle key fits back in the axle groove. I have the ones Snyder's sells with the somewhat elongated bevel. Going to write it down this time.....inside the drum...

the tapered end faces down (what you are calling the elongated bevel) and facing the backing plate. be sure the it is at the end of the shaft out side hub will go on easier i just finished doing my brakes.

Thanks, Kevin, that makes sense since the key way tapers up towards the backing plate end. Now I can put everything back together....
