Default Portland Swap Meet-what did I miss?

Any good deals on flathead related stuff?
Any new “barn finds” dragged into the light of day?

I guess I didn’t miss much, with the number of responses.

Picked up a nice Stromberg 48 for $50 and a new Hi Torque flathead starter for $100. Good stuff for my 34 project and at a good price. But then when you figure in the hotel, gas, parking (in a mud field) and two entrance fees for the track and the expo site, a couple of $7 hot dogs, aching feet and back. I think you have to be off half a bubble to really like this stuff. But I'll probably go again. My neighbor says there is medication for this!

There was lots of good parts at Portland. I saw lots of good '40 Ford sheetmetal for sale. If you needed nice '40 fenders there were plenty to choose from.

It’s just been so long since I’ve been to a real swap meet, we just don’t have them here. Not enough old car enthusiasts, or enough old parts!
I’m traveling to TX the first week in May, would love to find something near Houston.

I brought home a set of 7.50 x 17 bias ply hiway tread 8 plys for the front of my tonner PU. Never mounted and I paid 50 bucks for the pair. 2 different heaters to try for my woodie, a vintage school bus seat for the woodie's back seat, A rebuilt crab distributor for a hundred bucks, 3 exhaust manifolds, two bags of small stuff. And yes, the most expensive thing of all was the 4 nights in the motel. I guess the stuff wasn't that cheap after all, but sure had fun with my buddies, and got to look at very cool cars and parts.

Yea, I saw the Pate swap meet advertised, but my work schedule won’t allow it.
I saw something advertised in Crosby, TX, prob hour and a half away. I might be able to make that one.

Looks like you did ok GB!
It’s kinda like a hunting trip, by the time you figure in gas, food, camping supplies, ammo, rifle , etc.
You can buy meat at the store a whole lot cheaper, but where’s the fun in that!

There were a hand full of Alaskans who treaked down to the Portland Swap Meet. One of the guys even drove his big truck down. He is bringing 3ea cool old cars back with parts.

Hi Vic,
I also had one of the guys in our club that is bringing a couple heavy items up. He didn’t spend much time at swap meet, the stuff he’s bringing for me I ordered from a couple places in CA.
I would have liked to have gone just to look for a decent 35 grille.
