Default 50 ford woodie chassis finally in derusticator!

The title says it all, I finally built the tank to do electrolysis on my 50 woodie chassis. The beauty of this process is there is no metal spread or integrity compromise, all it takes is time. The process is nothing but a chemical reaction created using washing soda and water, and is activated with an anode connected to the positive side of a charger, and the part being cleaned to the negative side.

I just did a engine block and was very pleased with how well it worked. Good luck

Looks like a plywood box with a plastic liner, very simple. Please post results, interesting.

The main knock on electrolysis derusting is that it works "line of sight" only. (You have to have direct access between the cathode and the piece being derusted.) I have used this method myself, and found it effective (though a little messy) when working with individual parts where you can surround the part completely.

I am wondering what you guys have done about this (especially with an engine block).

Its all about suspension in the solution, and the amount of anodes you have to one panode (part being cleaned). I have four old truck springs out of my old f450 as the anodes.

I have used the method in the past and I prefer it to anything. I still have to get a couple of those mesh grids that are used to reinforce concrete for driveways etc. Going to make up a basket to put in my tank. All four sides and a bottom should do the trick!
