Chile to Michigan in an A, c.1992
I found this photo of a 1928 Model A Ford on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn MI. Apparently it was driven 22,000 miles from Chile to the museum over the period Oct 1992 - Dec 1994.
Anyone recall this, or have other photos of this car? Seems like it would have generated quite a bit of publicity en route? What was the purpose of the trip? Examination of the photo reveals some interesting mods - two spares mounted forward of the radiator, running board mounted tool boxes, roof rack, and is that a pair of sealed beams roughly placed inside the headlight shells? And what's that next to the spare tyres, under the LHS headlight? |

In the past, I've read of that trip, amazing. In the background is s '53 Ford, I was in the Ford plant @ that time & the technology was AMAZING, for that time ! Watched for 30 minutes @ the end & only 1 car DIDN'T start.
