Hey Scott. Will the engine pass inspection? That truck is going to be some beauty. Glad I had a little hand in it. Walt

Walt, that Flat head will not pass inspection for a restoration but....It did pass the resurrection qualifications. The most important thing about this truck is it now lives and breaths with your help from the start, Thanks.

Mark 37's have that script centered in a rectangle, 38-40 has three raised squares with the logo centered in the middle square.

Thanks Scott. I didn't think painted logos were correct but hey, I seem to learn something new every day and try my best to keep an open mind and watchful eye...

I do like the way you painted yours. That red does look good on there. Plus, looks like you nailed the correct shade for your Folkstone. i see too many that appear more tan than gray. Great job!

Oh, I cast my vote for 1939 Ford pickup trucks as things of beauty. That grille work somehow just "catches" me.

Resurrection Restro Rod, updated, rebuilt, restored, merely words unless you are going for fine point judging. Then let'um knock off 10 points and keep on trucking. Hoorah for the wife's idea of the red 8. Have a good day and keep sending photos...

Scott, to resurrect and old Maine saying, that looks "Pissar". The paint on your tailgate is also the best. Thanks for the phone #, will keep that handy.

I like the painted script, I really adds a nice touch to the tailgate.
Here is one I did for a customer for his 55...he liked the script but he didn't take my advice to keep it small.

I did. That photo was taken after I sprayed the base coat and before the clear coat. The tailgate is a Mar-K flat piece, I had a sheet of 16 ga steel waterjetted to cut out the script and then used panel adhesive to bond it. 2 wks and a few very sore fingers later I had the step in the panel smoothed. Here it is on the truck...

Charlie to me, that large script fits that very well. That is a nice custom piece you got there and would look good on my 77 F150 that has the boring block letters. Scott

The width of the inner panel is 42 inches. From a purely artistic standpoint the "rule of thirds" works well...I recommended to the owner that he make the letters 13 inches wide which would leave equal spacing on each side. He went with that size lettering to reduce the weight of the tailgate by taking more material out of the panel. His logic fails me but the customer is always right. I have learned that I can make recommendations and draw diagrams but in the end it's what the customer wants that makes the deal. He would be glad to know you like the size.
