None of my books give motor #. see if you can find a copy of "catalog of Ford trucks ID #s 1946 to 1972. This might have what you need. They are on Amazon

KIWI,
I know that 1949 F-! production started on 6-10-48 and ran thru 11-15-49. Also '49 parts start with 1948 number(8). Ford expected the '49's to all commence in 1948.

I doubt you'll find anything but a guess. Bunn's book Ford F-Series Pickup Trucks 1948 - 1956 shows 181,403 "light duty trucks" for 1948, but I'm sure that includes F-2's and F-3's. As you are probably aware, most records were lost in a fire in the late '50's.

In trucks, '48 serial numbers are 88xxxxxxx, '49 and '50 are both 98xxxxxxx.
