1955 F100 vin paint color
Curious to what some members here might know what color my f100 should be by looking at the vin. The frame is stamped f10D5CL6984. I know it's a Chester build. Any help much appriciated. As I prep the truck, I'm finding yellow paint.

I don't think the vin will tell you the color. You need to go off the data tag. It should be on the glove box lid.

Here a link to an example data plate for '55 & '56 full sized cars. Some of the '55 exterior color codes may be the same. (pdf document, opens in a new window) https://thecvaonline.com/howtos/DataPlateDecoder.pdf EDIT - better links.... Here's a decoder for '55 Ford trucks... http://www.1955fordtrucks.com/1955-ford-trucks.html and a few other misc links.. https://www.google.com/search?q=1955...nt=firefox-b-1 . The '55 truck and car color code for Goldenrod Yellow is L (M20j-358) which may be the L in your frame code, however, there should be a data tag on your glove box door as Herman mentioned.

The Colonial White mix for my '57 F100 was not even close, only to find it was a 1959 formula, but no one told me until after I'd sprayed some. |
