Default Universal Torque Values

Is the a published list of torque values for the universal joint bolt and the clamshell bolts? I didn’t see anything in the Les Andrews book or in forum search.

Depends on size there is a Bolt-Grade Torque comparison in Les Andrew Book-A4. If your looking for Torque amount No, Tight till you feel ok with it.

Don't forget that those bolts have castellated nuts and cotter pins. I would go "moderately tight" then continue until the holes line up for the cotter pins. There's no particular stress on those bolts.

The one I’m really concerned about is the universal joint bolt. I don’t want to get it too tight and crush the washer or leave it too loose and risk the bolt coming free again and flying around in the clamshell cavity. I’m looking for the Goldie Locks “just right” torque. [emoji4]

I thought I would check one more time. What torque should the universal bolt have?

Locktite thread locker is good insurance. It can be medium grade or heavy if you choose. Just make sure the threads are clean.
