Default New floor boards and battery

Bought a 60x60 inch sheet of Baltic birch plywood. 15/16. $60. Haven't done measurements but it looks like the sheet may be enough for all the floor boards and toe board for our Tudor (1930). Beautiful sheet goods with flawless plies. Marine grade glue too. Need to replace the Battery so might just as well tackle the floor while I'm at it.

I used Baltic Burch plywood for my AV8 roadster. It was wonderful to work with.
I made rhe seat back and floorboards.

A friend makes classic Church pipe organs and told me he uses Baltic for the air boxes.

I'm a hybrid woodworker and have been using it for 6 years or so. It's so nice and sure beats the big box store plywood. So affordable too.

Bob where did you find the good plywood. I need to make a set for my Cabriolet because I put the T170 trans in it and the tower hole is in a different location.

Edensaw Woods. They are located in Port Townsend. Distribution warehouses in Seattle and Tacoma. The Tacoma location is across the street from the old Eagle Paper Box plant. East 25th. Gorgeous stuff. I called at 3pm on Thursday and and it was delivered to Tacoma before 8am yesterday.

How are the floors that are already cut from the major model-A vendors? I was thinking about replacing my fronts.

I thought they only made plywood in 48x96 inch sheets ( 4 by 8 feet )!

Good Evening...I have used a number of new plywood Model A Floor Boards that I believe came from Snyder's stock. They are generally really good...I make a few quick modifications before painting or varnishing...depending what the customer would like. First the bolt holes are 1/4" and I open all of them up to 5/16 inch so that the bolts go in nicely...I chase all the nuts in the frame with a 1/4x20 tap and put a drop of oil into each nut so they will turn nicely. The hole for the throttle is not quite right, so we use a bigger drill bit to enlage it to right about 1/4 inch so that the throttle shaft will not rub on the floor board...finally the center hole on the right hand side needs to be filed toward the seat about an 1/8" so that the bolt will line up with the nut in the frame. All of this takes less than 30 minutes...then paint or varnish and in they go! Ernie in Arizona

Nope. This stuff is 60 x 60 inches. From what the folks at Edensaw woods told me this size was developed for the cabinet making trade. I decided to go this route because of local availability. And I have the tools and such to do it. Not taking anything away from all the vendors but for me here in Pacific Northwest the freight charges have become just too much. I drive 15 minutes to pick this stuff up. The 60 x 60 size will make up a bunch of floor boards depending on body type.

I've run into Baltic Birch in both 4x8 and 5x5 sheets. I find that the 4x8 are generally US or Canadian made (we have a lot of Canadian lumber on the west coast), while the 5x5 come in from Europe. I actually prefer the 5x5, it's a lot easier to handle.

The floorboard screws are 12/24, not 1/4-20

Ummm, thats a pretty good price. We are paying $60 for a sheet of OSB!! I am a pro woodworker, had a friend that had a very large cabinet shop. I seen a lot in the 5'x10' never seen the 5'x5' must be a west coast thing.

Good luck with the project.
