So many people wrongly called it "DUCK" tape that a company took advantage of it and started marketing their own brand called "DUCK" tape. I saw it at Menards.

One thing I’ve learned about using the forum on the Ford Barn. I come across as being a lot smarter than I do when I speak. Hell, it takes a lot of time and effort to type out expletives, and yet they are so much a part of my spoken language that I feel funny not using them. There are just some cuss words that put everything into a much clearer perspective than “Shoot” or “Ah, shucks.”

When I hit my thumb with a hammer, I sure don’t yell out, “Oh, shucks.” When I talk to my model A when it does something really weird, I don’t say, “Darn, what is wrong with you now?”

It’s taken me many years to gather together all those wonderful words that make normal polite terms seem pale in comparison.

Mom used to say that I talked like a truck driver or swore like a sailor. I always thought it was a compliment. She always criticized Dad when he’d swear around us kids. I enjoyed the way my old man spoke. If he was still around, he’d be amazed and shake his head at how far I’ve progressed in the art of profanity.

My wife seems to be able to block out a lot of what I say. Crap, she is able to block out almost everything I say.

If I was going to be buried instead of cremated, I think I would like my tombstone to read, “He sure the f##k wasn’t timid about what he said.”

There, now the truth is out. Whenever I post something in the future, insert your own expletives whenever needed. I’m sure you all can come up with some good ones.

Mike

This should vindicate Bill and settle all debates...

You can indeed duct tape a duck with duck tape.

My wife and daughters saw that 'DUCK' tape. They were very quick to point out to me that I keep calling it by the wrong name (DUCT).

Ironically, common duct (or "duck") tape is not a good choice for sealing air ducts because it dries out over time. Use adhesive-backed aluminum tape instead.

I hope this thread isn't about my spelling...
Every word I write is underlined in red. Could this be beacause my spell check is set in Dutch (Flemish).
Maybe that is why no one replies to me, no one can read it...

Duct,(Duck) Tape is a product of WWll for sealing ammo boxes. Like most other things, there is poor quality and very good,(expensive), quality.

I would like to to reply to you, but the Dutch (Flemish) are a bad influence too. So I wont reply to you.

Before I retired I was a mechanic for a large package delivery company. When ever I walked into the truck drivers office I had to warn them to watch there language because there was a mechanic in here. My dad was in construction all his life. When I watch the movie The Christmas Story there dad reminds me of my dad, he could use profanity like a painter worked with oils.

I have a roll of Army green duct tape, and it is much better quality and heavier than the cheap China crap. Better known as 3C tape.

There, there, it should be their.

I still spell the same things wrong and the same things right all my life.
No amount of reading/edjachun has ever improved it or made it worse.

Re use of profanity: I've read that the use of profanity is "a sign of a weak mind feebly trying to express itself". Think about it. If a person has to communicate using words only four letters long (or five once in awhile) he is definitely lacking a good vocabulary!

My spelling might be poor but i find it amusing that my IQ test is one of the highest they'd ever seen.

Gotta love how fordbarn is one of this forums where thread drift can show you new forms of duct tape & nobody throws a tantrum & deletes it, unlike some forums i go on.

Swearing conveys emotion.

Have a look at a Pride and Prejudice film. See how the upper class never convey emotion.

Of the 50 words contained in your post, 33 of those words are 4 letters or less.....

A family couldn't get their son to speak. They took him to a number of doctors and psychiatrists and none of them could find anything wrong with boy. One day they were having dinner at the table when the boy suddenly said "this food tastes like shit." Everyone at the table was amazed. "We thought you couldn't speak," the father exclaimed. "Well, the food has been good until now," the son replies.

I buy the expensive good quality commercial grade duct tape. One roll is the extra wide. My three boys used it all up one day making medieval swords and armor ect. So after that I bought the cheep duck tape to leave laying around the shop, so thy wouldn’t wipe out my supply of the good stuff.
