Fuses location 1950 Ford car
Can someone assist me here as to how many fuses should be in this car and to their location.
Your help would be appreciated. Thank you Denton |

Re: Fuses location 1950 Ford car
Generally there are two circuit breakers and one fuse under the dash. There might be more depending on accessories and such. Turn signals have a fuse if the car is so equipped and same for the clock & radio. They usually have in line fuses near the component. If your car has overdrive, there is a fuse in the overdrive relay.
The circuit breakers take most of the load including ignition, instruments, & head/tail/park lights. I'm more familiar with the Mercury cars of this time frame and they are mounted under the dash and can be a real bear to get to since they are mounted above the parking brake handle on the 50/51 types. I'm not sure about the shoebox Fords but I suspect they are under there somewhere. My Ford wiring diagram shows a circiuit breaker panel with two CBs and one fuse. Another CB is added if the car has a convertible top set up so the panel is usually big enough for three CBs on a Merc but I'm not sure about a Ford. They are next to the speedo cluster - get some good lighting aimed up there and slide in on the floor. Once you have fixed or found the fuses, sit down in the driver's seat and proceed to the chiropractor for an adjustment.
