Re: license plate collectors
While we're at it, I'm willing to trade these two top-notch Maryland 1930 plates for decent New Mexico 1930 plate(s) (we only require one in NM; no one ever robs a bank and leaves in reverse )

Re: license plate collectors
As a license plate collector and a Model A person I have a few comments. Plates for antique car Year of Manufacture registration in general sell or trade for more value than similar plates for plate hobbists. To the person from Albuquerque one of the largest license plate collector/dealers is in your city. Not all older plates are equal in value for several reasons but one reason is paint quality. Some years plates from certain states just had paint that did not stand up for perhaps 80 years which affects values today. Other factors enter also and while an even trade is theoretical, it is unlikely. A widely utilized site for license plate hobbyists is [email protected]

Re: license plate collectors
As with many trades I assume there would be a little cash exchanged to balance things out.

Re: license plate collectors
There are several thriving License Plate Collector groups on Facebook. If you or someone you know is on Facebook, have them join the group and post your trade. I've done a dozen or so deals off those groups with no issues.

Re: license plate collectors
Still looking for a matched set of 18 county 1929 Nebraska plates. Have a decent single plate I could run, but would prefer to have a matched set. Rod

Re: license plate collectors
Nebraska plates have a county number then the plate number. The county with the largest population was 1 then the second was 2 etc. Kansas also used this system. There is probably more states that used this system.

Re: license plate collectors
That is the county number which I live and also would match the signage on the delivery. Although it is possible it may have had 15 county on it at the time as the Gothenburg area changed from Lincoln county to Dawson county some time close to 1929 am not certian what year this happened or why. More history to research at some point. Rod

Re: license plate collectors
In Maryland up until the 60s at least, county clerks could issue plates, the first two letters of which were unique for the county. You could tell a local from the first two letters. I remember that in Cecil County in 1968, the first two letters for one series were EN. There were two letters and four numbers, so there had to be many two letter combinations for some of the more populous counties. Some people would work to get the same numbers year after year.

Re: license plate collectors
I have early 1920's CA plates. I would like a nice set of 1930 PC (Pneumatic Commercial) CA plated and a 1930 CA Trailer plate.

Re: license plate collectors
I belong to the ALPCA (American License Plate Collectors Association). They have a web site and it may be possible for outsiders to look at some of it. They have many dealers that advertise in their magazine. These dealers have a LOT of plates for sale.

Re: license plate collectors
I am not being "picky" but the license plate collector club name was incorrect in post #15 by Vic in E-Tenn. The Club is international in scope, and its name is Automobile License Plate Collectors Association (Inc.), not American License Plate Collectors Association. It is known as ALPCA and its address is alpha.org. New members are always welcome and Regional Meets are held, in fact the Colonial Region (New England and a bit of New York state) annual Winter meet is this coming Saturday in Hadley, Mass. I hope to be there.
