I took photos of the upper and lower latching mechanisms side by side. The 41s make room for the longer engine. It is also missing some of the stiffening pieces. Will the 41 hood ornament work with the 40 latching mechanism? If so, that is what I will use.

Does anyone have photos of this stuff for a '41 V8? I'd like to know if it is the same as my '41 or '40. I looked a little closer today. I believe I can make the '40 mechanisms work with the '41 ornament. Someone mentioned using a '40 lever in place of a '41. It was not the right length, but it did work. My problem is a bit different.

Sorry to keep beating this horse. Today's mail brought a copy of "Two Great Trucks". It covers most of these questions. Apparently, the '41 V8 used the same latching mechanism as the '40. The 6 was different. This book is great. Wish I'd known about it before.

You are correct, however they haven't had any in a couple years and when asked said they had no idea if they'd ever have them again.

All Ford Parts in Campbell, Ca. may have some 41 pickup handles. I got one from them a couple of months ago, but they are pricey.

Can someone tell me the paint color for the upper and lower latch mechanisms I showed in the photo above? Body color or black? Also, what color are the radiator shroud side pieces?

Upper and lower latch mechanisms are body color. I have an original upper latch with the original green paint.

Thanks, that's the way we will paint it. I've been told the radiator shroud pieces should be black. I need to post some photos of this project, but it is so disjointed I hardly know what to show.
